No. 01 — The Attention Edition Saturday 1 August 2026 Price: one waiver claim

At 15:18 UTC the wire filed that a Kansas City rookie had been carted off practice. Sleeper's count of managers adding him did not crest until 17:31:39 — two hours and thirteen minutes later — at 135,114, the largest single reading anywhere in this snapshot. The plate sets that lag as a broadsheet and prints no chart at all: the mapping is typographic hierarchy, so the reader assembles the causality themselves.

Both timestamps are query output: the wire item from the 500-row news table (Q4), the reading from the fifteen-minute trending series (Q3). The interval between them is the difference.

The Crest

The one enormous numeral is the largest reading of any player, in either direction, across all 194 captures. The last reading before the cart was filed stood at 129,876; the crest is 5,238 higher and arrives two hours and thirteen minutes later. Thirteen hours and forty-five minutes after that, at the final capture, the same count reads 85,956.

The Reversed Band

Four figures set in reverse under the crest, and they are what the crest was spent on. Sleeper projects 37.2 PPR points across 18 games. FantasyCalc prices him at 10. Fantasy Football Calculator holds 654 draft rows across three scoring formats and not one of them is his, so the third cell reads none. The fourth is the crest again, set against the 60 names the trending feed carries at all.

The Sequence

Every item in the news table whose title names him, in the order it filed. RotoWire carries the cart at 15:18:00 and r/fantasyfootball repeats it nine minutes later. ESPN's own follow-up — helped off with leg injury — does not land until 17:55:52, twenty-four minutes after the crest had already been logged.

The Counter-Trade

The same afternoon, the opposite reflex. At 16:55:22 the wire carried Ricky Pearsall's season-ending news. The last drop reading before it, at 16:46:39, was 3,703; the reading at 17:16:39 — twenty-one minutes after the wire — was 10,115. It climbed to 22,680, the largest drop reading in the record, and it was still climbing at the final capture.

The Ledger

The twelve most-added men of the window, set against what they are projected to score. The crest is 3.1 times the second name on the list — Roman Wilson, at 43,695. Nine of the twelve carry a season projection and four carry a draft position; the most-added man of the entire window is projected 37.2, fourth-lowest of the nine.

The Tape

Fifty-one hourly high-water readings set in agate across the foot of the sheet: the whole arc in one band. The trough, 60,744, is 31 July at 15:00, before any of this. 23 of the 50 hour-on-hour steps are falls, which is the first clue that this count is not a running total.

Two hours and thirteen minutes

The sheet prints the hourly tape and leaves the fifteen-minute window to the reader. Here it is in full, with the wire items set at their own filing times between the readings they sit between. Nothing has been smoothed and nothing has been left out: these are the twelve readings the snapshot holds for that afternoon, and the four items in the news table that name him.

The crowd does not respond to the cart for the first hour. It responds to the second wave — the Yahoo item at 16:30 and the ESPN follow-up building behind it — and by then the man has been on a cart for an hour and a quarter. Ricky Pearsall's season-ending news filed at 16:55:22 in the middle of it, and produced the opposite reflex on a different player inside twenty-one minutes.

What the count actually counts

Sleeper publishes a trailing twenty-four-hour total: at any moment, the number of managers who added the player during the preceding day. It is not a running total. It can fall while people are still adding, because adds made a day earlier drop out of the window at the far end. The plate says this in its colophon, and the snapshot shows the machinery plainly enough to check.

Readings are taken roughly four times an hour, at about :01, :16, :31 and :46. Across every add reading in the corpus — all 60 named players — 80.5% of the :46 readings are lower than the reading fifteen minutes before, against 0.0% of the :01 readings. That is the shape an hourly window step leaves behind, and it belongs to the feed rather than to any one player. The same signature shows at the scale of the whole record: the largest single hourly rise, +10,092 at 19:00 on 31 July, is answered by the largest single hourly fall, −7,314, at 19:00 on 1 August — twenty-four hours later to the hour.

This does not make the crest smaller. It makes it a different kind of number: 135,114 is the size of a day-long crowd measured at its widest, not a lifetime total, and the fall afterwards is that same day expiring rather than anyone letting him go.

Method and limits

What is measured and what is drawn. Every figure on the sheet is the literal output of one of seven queries carried in the plate's own HTML header, and every figure added by this page is the output of one of four further statements printed in this page's header. Nothing is estimated, smoothed or interpolated. The sheet contains no chart: its mapping is typographic hierarchy — size, weight and one spot colour — which is a composition device and not a measurement. The one drawn variable anywhere here is the bar beside each reading in the tape above, and it encodes the signed difference between two printed readings and nothing else.

The count is a window, not a tally. Sleeper's add and drop counts are rolling trailing-twenty-four-hour totals. Every change stated on the sheet and on this page is a change in that reading, which is not the same thing as a change in how many people want the player. The crest is therefore partly a property of the window: it is the largest overlap of one day's adds, not a cumulative audience.

One sentence on the sheet, said precisely. The sheet reads: “His drop count was 3,703 at the 16:46 reading. Twenty-one minutes later it was 10,115.” The twenty-one minutes are measured from the wire item at 16:55:22, not from the 16:46:39 reading, which is thirty minutes earlier. Both readings, both timestamps and the swing of 6,412 between them are query output; only the sentence is compressed.

A rise with a dip in it. The sheet says the number “kept climbing” by 5,238 between the last pre-wire reading and the crest. The net rise is exactly that, but the path is not monotonic: the 16:46:39 reading falls to 129,030, below where the count stood before the wire moved at all. The full fifteen-minute window is printed above so the dip is visible rather than described.

Coverage and cadence. The trending feed carries a bounded list rather than the whole player universe: 60 named players appear on the add side and 61 on the drop side, out of 4,258 player records. Captures run at a median of 15.0 minutes; two longer gaps, of 84 and 39 minutes, fall in the first two hours of the record on 31 July. All times are UTC, as published.

Names, not marks. Player names, club abbreviations and wire-service names are printed as text because they are facts. No club logo, league mark or photograph appears anywhere on the sheet or on this page.
